The Afghani War Rug started as a way for tribal people to document the fighting with Soviet troops that had invaded their country back in 1979. The fighting has continued, though the names have changed. The quality of War Rugs, in general, has gone down as their popularity with collectors has gone up. BUT! there is the occasional exception and this is one! Very nicely woven Turkoman rug with good dyes and good wool.
