All natural dyes were  used to get the wonderful colors of the wool pile on this carpet. Like many of the antique Shirvan carpets that were woven in the regions to the East of Chechnya, the warp is natural wool but the weft is ivory cotton and so it is with  the side cord wrap and the selvedge at the fringe ends.
